- The Chatsworth Youth Centre was opened on October 14th 2003 as an initiative of Former President, Nelson Mandela. The community had called for some kind of recreational facility following the Throb Disaster in 2000 that saw the tragic deaths of 13 teenagers. The youth centre now stands as a beacon of hope for many teenagers in our community as it offers a safe haven where we can become involved in assisting the community regarding countless issues as opposed to doing drugs and wasting away our lives. Contrary to what many may think, the youth centre is not just a 12-million Rand building that does nothing. Look deeper and you'll find a vast number of dedicated volunteers who strive to uplift the lives of the citizens of Chatsworth and surrounding areas.
